जसुनाथ जी मंदिर कतरियासर में स्थापित गजारूढ़ प्रतिमा |
For two days negotiations were carried on between the Maharaja and the Sidhs. On the morning of 3 August, the Political Agent learnt that the Sidhs had prepared four graves and that four of them were to commit suicide. He thereupon sent his head munshi to ask them to desist from doing so but they were adamant. He then called some of their leading men, warned them that persons aiding or abetting suicide were liable to be severely punished and that they alone would be to blame on such an eventuality. The Agent was not going to be intimated by their threats.
By this way they were cowed down, they agreed not to commit suicide but added that they would not take any food unless Jasunath ji was set free. A settlement at last was reached between the Maharaja and the Sidhs. Jasunath ji was allowed to live with one Hukam Singh Faujdar, in whom the Sidhs had confidence and Hukam Singh was to see that Jasunath ji did not leave Bikaner till the charges against him were investigated and cleared. Though the Sidhs were intent upon seeking the intervention of the Political Agent, he was very careful not to do anything beyond using his influence with the Maharaja and advise him to act with justice and moderation.
Early in January, 1878 the case amicably settled and the Sidhs returned to their homes. However they again began to cause trouble and in June, 1880 Jasunath ji had to be arrested again and was sentenced to imprisonment for three and a half years with a fine of Rs. 50/- The Political Agent hoped that this time the followers of Jasunath ji would not prove prove to be troublesome and that the Maharaja would not be intimated by their threats.
Above article is excerpt from Maharaja Karani Singh's books so it's biased against Sidhs.
